As the light passes through the alexandrite crystal, a red beam of 757 nanometers is produced. The length of the light beam determines how far the laser penetrates the skin. The wavelength of the high-energy light emitted by the laser is converted into heat energy, which damages the target area. For effective hair removal, the light energy of the laser must be absorbed in the pigment material of the hair, which leads the heat directly to the hair follicle. As a result of this amount of heat, the hair follicle is destroyed. The action mechanism of the Alexandrit laser is unique, because the light and heat reaching the skin is absorbed exclusively in the pigment content of the hair, leaving the surrounding skin unharmed.
What is the process of laser hair removal treatment?
During a personal consultation with a dermatologist, a decision is made as to whether laser hair removal can be started based on the skin type, hair color, and the patient’s state of health. The treatment series is always started with a trial treatment. During the treatment, it is mandatory for both the doctor and the patient to wear protective glasses. The treatment head of the laser moves along the skin surface to be treated in a few seconds, as a result of which approx. After 12-14 days, the hairs will fall out of the treated area. The treatment is carried out in several sessions (usually 3-5 treatments are required depending on the individual, gender, amount and quality of hair), as the maturity phase of the hair follicle greatly influences the effectiveness of the treatment. The treatment is most effective in the initial stage of the growth phase of the hair follicle. It may happen that after a few years 1-1 maintenance treatment may become necessary.

The most common hair removal procedures used by women are: upper lip, chin, legs, arms, armpits, bikini area and legs. For men, these areas are the shoulders, back, chest and abdomen.
How painful is the procedure?
A slight tingling sensation is felt with each laser pulse. The newly developed integrated cooling system ensures the protection of the skin during the procedures.
What do you need to know before Alexandrite laser treatment?
- Please avoid active sunlight for at least 2 weeks before and during the treatment, or use sunscreen creams with an SPF of at least 25-30.
- Please refrain from chemical hair removal, shaving is allowed.
- Please shave the body part to be treated 1-2 days before the treatment.
- Do not use make-up, cosmetics or perfume on the affected area immediately before the treatment.
What side effects can you expect after treatment?
Redness and swelling may occur after the treatment, but these side effects are only temporary. In such cases, cooling and local skin care preparations (e.g. aloe vera gel) can be applied to the treated area. In very rare cases, burns, scabs, hypo- or hyperpigmentation, and scarring may develop at the treatment site.
